Go and see Dierk Haasis's Home Page for the month of August, 2010. The images he's chosen include several that will touch your heart, some that will take your breath away for their sheer beauty, and at least one that might make you laugh out loud. Don't miss the two of Hamburg's harbour bathed in blue fluorescent light, captioned "Blue Impression." And be sure you stick around for "Boing-Boing." (Hover your mouse over the pictures to see the titles and other interesting text.)

Where to Go in a Heat Wave
98 degrees Fahrenheit, 36.66 degrees Celsius -- today's predicted high according to the National Weather Service. A cool iced tea in the Pineapple Room at Cheekwood, a walk along the shadier paths of its botanical garden (now enhanced with Chihuly hand-blown glass sculptures), and a cool tour of the air-conditioned art museum might be one good plan for the afternoon.

Beautiful, enjoyable galleries
Check out the July slide show at the front page of Dierk Haasis's website. The football photos from 2008, placed there in honor of the World Cup tournament, are gone.
Take your time to savor their replacements, and then go on to enjoy his galleries.
As a result of the improvements he made in June, they're more user-friendly and therefore even more enjoyable than before. I like to look at these images full-screen. Beautiful and satisfying, as they succeed one another on my monitor.
Some of them -- chiefly selections from his landscapes -- I have as prints, framed and displayed in my hall and in other places around my house. Truly they are works of art, and living with them enriches my life every day. These can also be seen in his Imagekind galleries, where they're available for purchase.
