Hedge Berries

Across the street from the dogwood of the Thanksgiving post below, and downhill all the way, is a tangled hedge of mixed vegetation, bare of color since all the red stalks of the poke sallet were cut down by a road maintenance crew--except for these brilliant red berries, which caught the late afternoon sunlight on November 30.

  2. hey Jeff!

Great to hear from you. I hope you've had a good fall semester.

As to priming the pump on limerick-writing:

Why not use the device from OEDILF--a project where a group of volunteers are writing a limerick on every word in the dictionary.

Just browse down, and when a word strikes your fancy, compose upon the theme which that word brings to mind.

You don't have to do them in the order that they appear in the dictionary.

These guys have even written on numerical symbols and other symbols, like the one for "and"-- & (ampersand)-- and the one that denotes a footnote or other special attention within text -- * (asterisk).

They've come up with things across a range of moods and approaches, from the clever to the profound.

Have a look at one of mine at my "Reckon I Should Tell This" blog.

    Happy writing!

    Mary
