North Wind Among the Maple Leaves

Yellow and Gold Leaves

The maple tree next door still shows mostly green leaves because the strong gusts of the north wind are continually sending the yellow ones down to the ground. It's been so dry this fall that they are very brittle and crunchy underfoot.

At the bottom of the hill, the firebush has just begun to turn its usual briliant red:

New Slideshow from Dierk Haasis

A beautiful new set of pictures is available, images made in and around Hamburg by Dierk Haasis (click on this link), which have now been selected by him for his October Home Page slideshow. Don't miss the one of Hamburg's harbour, bathed in blue fluorescent light last July. And enjoy, intermixed with all the wonderful photographs of city and harbour scenes and the images of flora and of various wildlife, the gray goose beginning to take flight off the water. Look carefully, also, at "Object of Desire," worth viewing both for its thoughtful composition and lighting and for its glowing blue and red colors alone.
